Less is actually more peace. More satisfaction. More in control. Both Less and more are subjective here. Less means less things which is priority for you. And who will decide the priority for you. It is you. If we have more things to be done in our To Do list, we start getting nervous. But if you have less items to be taken care, you seem to be in control. And that control gives you peace of mind.
If there are too many things and more things gets added with time, the unconscious mind wanders over all the tasks like a round robin without doing any of the tasks. And this wandering causes anxiety and fear. Some times or many of the times, the tasks gets added to the list without you taking a note of it and prioritizing it. For example if you are working on a task, a mail notification comes and you open the mail and the mail is from your manager asking for something. For a split of second you think should I reply or not and then you see yourself replying to that without realizing whether it was that urgent or not. You could have chosen the option to reply at a later time. This also has diluted the focus on the task which you were working upon.
There are many scenarios where one can get distracted and the result is that the productivity and efficacy is reduced. Another example is so many notification on your mobile and the mobile just sitting less than a finger’s distance from you. These days for many of us, mobile has become like a body part or more than a body part. While traveling to a place, my eyes are always upon the battery of my mobile as if the world will go upside down if my mobile gets completely drained.
If you have less things to be taken care of, less notification to be seen, less houses to be taken care of, less cars to be taken care of, less bucket lists, I think your life will be more at peace. Somehow the tasks and items are getting added to be pursued without we consciously noticing whether do I really need that.
That brings to the question what do we really need. That is for you to answer. What actually do you need. What is your purpose.
